My grandmother, Lois Flinn recently passed away, and in her memory I created this slideshow for anyone who knew her or the family. She was diagnosed with ovarian cancer 4 years ago, and on June 9, 2008 she lost the battle. Thank you to everyone who has sent a card, flowers, food, said a kind word or a prayer. My hope is that you will enjoy this collection of photos honoring Lois’s life, and find comfort in knowing that she is in a better place.

Immediate Consumer Action is Needed to Stop Mothers Act.
The Mothers Act is pending legislation that will indoctrinate hundreds of thousands of mothers into taking dangerous psych drugs. It is a great example of how the Big Pharma lobby controls Congress to the detriment of health, as well as needlessly and dramatically inflating the costs of our health care system for everyone. Like any piece of legislation it purports to address a troubling issue – in this case the mood distress of mothers following birth known as postpartum depression. It is true that 10% - 15% of women need some assistance in dealing with this topic – but the majority of them sure don’t need it from Big Pharma. That is the Big Lie.
The Mothers Act (S. 1375: Mom’s Opportunity to Access Health, Education, Research, and Support for Postpartum Depression Act) has the net affect of reclassifying the natural process of pregnancy and birth as a mental disorder that requires the use of unproven and extremely dangerous psychotropic medications (which can also easily harm the child). Urgent consumer action (see below) is needed to stop this atrocity, as the Senate could now vote any day.
It is my understanding that the process of birth, the intimate bonding of mother and child, and the placing of significant responsibility on the father is all part of a healthy culture and the backbone of the fabric that makes strong families and consequently our great nation. I fail to see why we need laws that force health care professionals to emphasize the idea that the process is some type of mental illness affecting 80% of all women – what a bogus pile of crap.
The Mothers Act proposes sweeping and dramatic changes in the delivery of pregnancy care by all health professionals. It demands that health professionals indoctrinate pregnant women into mental health treatment options for mild depression-like symptoms experienced during or following pregnancy, including moderate symptoms they call “baby blues” which they say affects 80% of pregnant women. In other words, this is a massive federate health mandate to get the majority of pregnant and nursing mothers on psych drugs – a new target market for Big Pharma.
The bill was obviously written by the Big Pharma lobby and its passage into law would be considered laughable except that it is actually happening. The bill seeks to require taxpayer-funded grants to treat postpartum mood and anxiety disorders, as defined in the latest edition of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders. For those of you who don’t know, this is the manual of vaguely defined mental health issues used by Big Pharma to allow the sale of their expensive psych drugs and get payment from Medicare and Medicaid at taxpayer expense. While some people certainly need help, this system racks up billions in fraudulent sales per year – including the sale of dangerous antipsychotic medications to our children. The Big Pharma lobby last year spent tens of millions to ensure the government would continue to cover vulnerable children so they could capitalize on this blatant scam.
As far as the Mothers Act goers, how can taxpayers be expected to pay for drug treatments when the problem that isn’t even understood? As the bill freely acknowledges “The causes of postpartum depression are complex and unknown.” In a mysterious leap of faith the bill says that this condition requires medication to treat it even though such medication has never been proven clinically effective and carries serious side effect risks for the mother and baby, including cardiovascular birth defects.
The bill goes on to set up a system of taxpayer-funded grants to pay for the treatments. It even commits you the taxpayer to funding “clinical research for the development and evaluation of new treatments for postpartum conditions, including new biological agents.” This means taxpayers will now foot the bill of Big Pharma drug development including the most dangerous new category of totally unproven pie-in-the-sky biological drugs that cost hundreds of billions of dollars to develop and can irreparably injure within minutes!
Yes, and once you have paid a fortune to develop these biological gene-altering agents then you will pay the drug companies price so that they can be freely dispensed to hundreds of thousands of pregnant and nursing mothers. Taxpayers will be on the hook for tens of billions of wasted dollars.
Immediate Consumer Action is Needed
The Mothers Act has already passed the House (H.R. 20, the Melanie Blocker Stokes Postpartum Depression, Research and Care Act). Word has it that it is being snuck out of the HELP committee on Thursday or Friday of this week and may be rammed through the Senate without any debate before the Easter break.
Rather unbelievably up to this point is that the cause of defeating this legislation has fallen onto the shoulders of one young mother, Amy Philo. When she struggled with postpartum stress she was placed on the very same psych drugs advocated for use in the Mothers Act legislation. She began having violent thoughts towards her child and suicidal thinking. Her not very bright doctor had her double and then triple her dose, nearly killing her. Lately I’ve had many people ask me where I’ve been. Well, I’ve been exhausted with all the research and writing that goes into posting quality articles, plus maintaining employment. It takes hours to read everything I need to get a solid understanding, and even longer to write a quality post about the subject, and I’m usually dissatisfied with the finished written product. The result of this past month’s hard-core research & writing has been an explosion in traffic to this site and several emails that I cannot keep up with. It’s encouraging, yes, but it’s also left me exhausted. I need some time off to relax and not think about how dark the world is…it depresses me, even though I feel an urge to study and an obligation to write about it. I need time to enjoy some of the good things in life. I am looking to move the political & news posts over to a new site soon, since it doesn’t really fit here any more…this started out as my personal blog…another sign that I need to keep my personal life away from the serious issues that are going on to some extent.
I will be posting a notice once a new site is up for political/social/news issues…I will likely be adding another writer to the new site, who is a history whiz and an excellent writer. Together we’ll be tackling more issues so that I don’t get overwhelmed. That is soon to come!
The combat in Iraq and Afghanistan continues as the government insists that these wars are necessary to “keep Americans safe”. Meanwhile, President Bush and Congress refuse to secure the borders - the most obvious and immediate thing to do after a domestic attack, I would think.
Nope, instead, in 2005, President Bush decided to make the borders even more wide open when he signed the Security and Prosperity Partnership of North America (SPP)…which many have claimed is nothing less than a formal plan for a North American Union. The goal is to open up the borders for trade and commerce, which is ALWAYS the first step in forming a super-state union - look at the EU!
The President failed to mention that part of this plan was obviously to allow for the importation of illegal drugs and immigrants into the country via the use of the Mexican Army. An independent reporter seen in the video below brings to light how the heavily armed Mexican military is illegally smuggling drugs & humans across the border, and leaving the Border Patrol agents powerless to stop it.
What’s even more upsetting, is that although this issue has been brought to the attention of the Department of Homeland Security several times, they continue to remain silent and inactive - a form of permissiveness.
The truth is, the Department of Homeland Security and higher Government officials DON’T want to secure the borders and protect the American people. They indeed have plans for a North American Union, and secured borders would not be conducive to their progress in an NAU formation. They SUPPORT the Mexican and Canadian military to police American soil, and once this issue comes to light enough, they will conjure up some ridiculous excuse as to why it’s necessary and good for us. This is always their MO so that we can become desensitized and conditioned to us having foreign troops on our soil.
Meanwhile, the American people are heavily scrutinzed and continually controlled by things like a forced Naitonal ID card, which will begin in May of 2008, spying on citizens & wiretapping phones, gun confiscation, RFID readers in absolutely everything possible, along with countless of executive orders signed by President Bush to enact military governance (marital law) in a time of national emergency.
I hope more people are waking up to the fact that this “War on Terror” is nothing more than a great facade. The powers steering the course of this country have really declared War on the American People! Take a look for yourself at what has really happened over the past several years - NOTHING has been done to protect American citizens and our land…we have only been further controlled.
The borders will remain wide open as long as possible, the war on terror will continue, and we will continue to be subject to further government control.
There is an incredibly evil force in control of this country (and the world) and it has infiltrated all level of government in several nations. It is financing wars and is bankrupting our economy, and it certainly has not intention on “protecting our freedoms”. In fact, freedom and independence are the most threatening forces AGAINST an evil force that is pushing total domination and world government.
A person who cannot be bought will have no place in power - be it Government, Corporations, or especially big Banking. That is why the Government will not move towards anything that will make our country sovereign and the people truly free.

Since the awful story of the marine soldier throwing the puppy over a cliff, countless of other ‘troops going insane’ videos have surfaced. These videos show the mental deterioration of our troops in a war. While I believe that most of the troops are good people who actually have a soul, there is that small group of soldiers who ‘crack’ and ‘lose it’, or maybe they were never really fit to be placed in a combat situation.
In light of this video evidence showing the insane and inhumane aggression from our troops, I would like to pose some questions…
What is our process for evaluating whether a soldier is capable of handling being placed in a combat zone? Where are the authoritative figures when a few start to ‘break’ and act out? What are the consequences for this atrocious behavior?
And MOST importantly, how are these soldiers rehabilitated back into society after they’ve been killing enemies AND the innocent?
I’m personally DISGUSTED at the sight of our paid men in uniform killing animals, verbally abusing children, and throwing grenades at a flock of sheep and a shepherd!! I want answers and I want to know what is being done to keep these troops, their officers, and the government accountable for our military conduct! I personally do NOT want these psychopathic killers policing my streets, which is what many ex-soldiers do after their enlistment.
This video has officially ruined my day. I am appalled to the point of pure rage. The stress of the Iraq war is without a doubt stressful and is demonstrably causing a mental digression into psychopathy.
These sick soldiers are undeniably devoid of any concern for life and humanity and therefore their abuses against the innocent and helpless are of no consequence.
And don’t tell me, “It’s just a puppy”. If some military maniac DELIGHTS in throwing an innocent animal off a cliff don’t assume that his mind is healthy enough to distinguish between a harmless animal (which is still an inhumane crime) and some small child, woman, or baby!
The anger that arises in me when I see abuse scares me. I don’t even like knowing or hearing about this stuff…it upsets me so much. But if I don’t write about it, I feel that in some way I’ve allowed for this pscyho to get away with it. By exposing these horrible injustices, this guy is closer to being brought to justice, and hopefully we will get angry enough to lobby for the war to end and to stop further abuses.

Taxi to the Dark Side, this year’s Oscar winner for ‘Best Documentary Feature’, is a definite must-see for those who want the inside truth about America’s torture policy.
Interestingly, although the Discovery Channel and HBO have both purchased rights to broadcast the film, neither have put it on schedule for airing. It has already been premiered in 35 countries, including select theaters in the United States.
I have not seen this film yet, because I have a hard time watching explicit violence and torture, but I will watch it this week, I promise, and will post again about it if I feel inclined. Although the very nature of this film disturbs me, it’s my personal priority to know the truth and to be educated on such issues.
I encourage anyone else who wants the truth of policies surrounding American torture to watch this as well.

A California court has ruled that several children in one homeschool family must be enrolled in a public school or “legally qualified” private school, and must attend, sending ripples of shock into the nation’s homeschooling advocates as the family reviews its options for appeal.
The ruling came in a case brought against Phillip and Mary Long over the education being provided to two of their eight children. They are considering an appeal to the state Supreme Court, because they have homeschooled all of their children, the oldest now 29, because of various anti-Christian influences in California’s public schools.
The decision from the 2nd Appellate Court in Los Angeles granted a special petition brought by lawyers appointed to represent the two youngest children after the family’s homeschooling was brought to the attention of child advocates.
“We find no reason to strike down the Legislature’s evaluation of what constitutes an adequate education scheme sufficient to promote the ‘general diffusion of knowledge and intelligence,’” the court said in the case. “We agree … ‘the educational program of the State of California was designed to promote the general welfare of all the people and was not designed to accommodate the personal ideas of any individual in the field of education.’”
The words echo the ideas of officials from Germany, where homeschooling has been outlawed since 1938 under a law adopted when Adolf Hitler decided he wanted the state, and no one else, to control the minds of the nation’s youth.
Wolfgang Drautz, consul general for the Federal Republic of Germany, has said ” school teaches not only knowledge but also social conduct, encourages dialogue among people of different beliefs and cultures, and helps students to become responsible citizens.”
Specifically, the appeals court said, the trial court had found that “keeping the children at home deprived them of situations where (1) they could interact with people outside the family, (2) there are people who could provide help if something is amiss in the children’s lives, and (3) they could develop emotionally in a broader world than the parents’ ‘cloistered’ setting.”
The appeals ruling said California law requires “persons between the ages of six and 18″ to be in school, “the public full-time day school,” with exemptions being allowed for those in a “private full-time day school” or those “instructed by a tutor who holds a valid state teaching credential for the grade being taught.”
The judges ruled in the case involving the Longs the family failed to demonstrate “that mother has a teaching credential such that the children can be said to be receiving an education from a credentialed tutor,” and that their involvement and supervision by Sunland Chrisitan School’s independent study programs was of no value.
Nor did the family’s religious beliefs matter to the court.
Their “sincerely held religious beliefs” are “not the quality of evidence that permits us to say that application of California’s compulsory public school education law to them violates their First Amendment rights.”
“Such sparse representations are too easily asserted by any parent who wishes to homeschool his or her child,” the court concluded.
The father, Phillip Long, said the family is working on ways to appeal to the state Supreme Court, because he won’t allow the pro-homosexual, pro-bisexual, pro-transgender agenda of California’s public schools, on which WND previously has reported, to indoctrinate his children.
“We just don’t want them teaching our children,” he told WND. “They teach things that are totally contrary to what we believe. They put questions in our children’s minds we don’t feel they’re ready for.
“When they are much more mature, they can deal with these issues, alternative lifestyles, and such, or whether they came from primordial slop. At the present time it’s my job to teach them the correct way of thinking,” he said.
“We’re going to appeal. We have to. I don’t want to put my children in a public school system that teaches ideologies I don’t believe in,” he said.
A spokesman for the Home School Legal Defense Association, one of the world’s premiere homeschooling advocacy organizations, said the group’s experts were analyzing the impact of the decision.
“It’s a very unfortunate decision,” he said.
Randy Thomasson, of Campaign for Children and Families, said under California law parents have the legal right to create a private school in their home and enroll their own children.
“Children belong to the parents, not to the state,” he said. But he acknowledged that there’s a great deal of misinformation about the status of homeschooling in California.
“For years the government school establishment has been lying to parents about the law. Just this week, a Los Angeles Unified school district employee lied to a mother who wanted to homeschool, telling her you must have a license, you must be credentialed and you must follow all the state curriculum. That’s three lies in one sentence.”
“Now we have judges going crazy and actively separating children from their parents.”
